Our visit was a suprise for my partners 30th birthday, we had been for a few years running staying in the area but not for the last 2 - its approximately 3 hours from home. The inn is under new ownership which meant they' had high standards to live up to and some very fond memories - they did not disappoint!
It has been refurbished inside to an amazing standards with eye catching beams and the beautiful fireplace. The service was impeccable and so friendly the new owner is lovely and made us feel so welcome.
The food was incredible the standard was even better than before with a great balance of flavours. I would highly recommend the rabbit terrine and confit duck starters both were incredible and the menu offered a great choice of local food. For our mains we chose chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms and the blade of beef - both were beautiful (and for someone who doesn't eat massive portions I almost cleared my plate after a starter).
Dessert was yet again impressive - although not needed I couldn't resist the blackberry pannacotta which was beautiful and light while my partner had the hot chocolate pudding which I managed to wrestle 1 mouth watering mouthful from....
An excellent meal, excellent service, excellent value - well worth the trip
I went with friends on Tuesday and had the best meal that I can remember, so had to go back on Saturday, with my husband, just to check! So, not sure which was best but they were both amazing! Service was great and friendly as well - I'm so looking forward to my next visit.

My friend and I went to the George inn today for a late lunch. We were met by Helen, a lovely lady who showed us around the pub and the menu . We were very pleasantly surprised, as both meals were delicious. We had the steak n ale pie and the chicken breast . We will definitely be recommending this pub to family and friends.
